This documentary followed Nguyen Duy Hai, a 32-year-old Vietnamese man, who had a 200lb tumor growing out of his lower back. It was the world’s largest tumor. When his sister moved to Florida she found Dr. McKay McKinnon— a surgeon considered to be the world’s leader in removing large NF tumors. However, Dr. McKinnon would face pressure from the State run hospitals in Vietnam not to attempt such a risky surgery. This doc followed Dr. McKinnon’s effort to save Hai’s life while navigating the politics and press of a communist country. I was the showrunner, director, writer and 2nd camera. Produced with Morningstar Ent. for Discovery Channel.
